“No cutting or injections just your skins natural ability to regenerate”.
Your specialist is trained and certified with an exclusive focus on performing this revolutionary new technique. The treatment requires academic instruction, understanding the science of skin healing, proper hygienic practices and a skillful hand.
Does it hurt?
There is minimal pain during the procedure. A topical anesthetic cream is applied and refreshed throughout the procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible (unless you are resistant to numbing agents).
After it is done, you may feel like you have a slight sunburn and the site will be very tender for a few days. You will have aftercare instructions to minimize discomfort during healing as well.
How long does the procedure take and how many treatments will I need?
The average session will be about 60 to 90 minutes depending on the area being treated. 20-30 minutes of it is waiting for numbing cream to take affect. Clients usually get amazing results with only one treatment, but it could take 2 or 3 to get that same level of results on a problematic area. This will all be discussed during your initial consultation. If additional sessions are needed, you must wait at least 6-8 weeks in between.
How long before I see results and how long do the results last?
Skin cells take approx. 28 days to regenerate. You will notice an immediate change right after treatment and even more visible results in about 2 weeks. Full results can take 8-12 weeks. It is critical that you DO NOT pick at your carbon crusts (let them fall off on their own) and that you use your aftercare kit and follow instructions to the max! Your skin is building collagen and repairing itself so that new skin can emerge. Results last anywhere from 2-4 years. Since we can’t stop the continual natural aging process; it will depend greatly on your lifestyle, genetics and skincare habits. If you take good care, the area won’t need re-treatment for a long time to come.
What are the side effects and risks?
You will not look cute right away. Tiny brown dots called carbon crusts (fancy word for mini-scabs) will form and they flake off in about 5-7 days.
If your treatment is on any eye area (most sensitive area), there WILL be mild to moderate swelling for the first few days. The skin will itch as it heals (this is a good sign). If you pick at your face against instructions, you may risk scarring or infection to the skin. A new (sterile) tip is used for each client and this is a low risk procedure with minimal down time. Clients must be 18 or over to receive this treatment.
Is this the same as that Plasma Pen or Plasma Lift stuff I’ve heard of?
Yes. The term Plasma is not being used as much to avoid confusion because there is no blood involved and this is not considered a medical procedure. Plasma refers to how the device (pen) works, it refers to the ionized gas which serves as an electrically conducting medium in physics and it is the 4th state of matter in terms of science. The tip of the device doesn’t make contact, so think of it as a plasma flash between the air and your skin. It is a form of energy used to zap and shrink the skin to get a tightening result.
The phases of healing take time:
Day 1-3: Skin is releasing histamines, swelling may occur.
Day 4-6: Inflammatory response, Fibro-BLAST multiply to rejuvenate skin.
Day 7-28: Regenerative phase also called Proliferative.
Week 6-12: Collagen is changing from Type III to Type I which is the type that has tensile strength (tighter), this is the Remodeling or Rebuilding that continues for several weeks.
We have a few aftercare product options and your specialist will decide what’s right for your skin. Everyone heals differently, some faster and others take longer! All information herein is a baseline, individual results may vary.
1. It is normal for the area that has been treated to be red/pink,
swollen and feel tight and dry. Occasional weeping is normal and
will settle.
2. Tiny crusts will quickly form on the treated area. These may be
visible for up to about a week.
3. Do NOT pick crusts off as this will delay the healing process and
could cause hyperpigmentation and scarring.
4.The area(s) treated may be cleansed daily with room temperature
water and your fingers. Avoid using washcloths or any other
washing devices. Do NOT be tempted to rub, brush or exfoliate the
area in any way to aid in the removal of the crusts.
5. Do NOT stand with your face under a hot shower for the first 3-4
days. This could increase swelling. Try to avoid shower gels or hair
products running on to your face as this could cause irritation and
inflammation.
6. Avoid swimming or chlorinated water as it can increase irritation.
7. Men should avoid shaving the treated area until it is fully healed.
8. If you have had treatment around your eyes, you should avoid
wearing contact lenses for 72 hours after your treatment.
9. Once the scabs have fallen off (approximately 7 days), your skin
may be a little pink. You may begin to apply your normal
foundation /make-up/sunblock but AVOID using skincare products
containing glycolic/salicylic/retinoic/AHA/ scrubs/Clarisonic or any
other active exfoliating ingredients/devices for at least 21 days, as
this will cause irritation. ABSOLUTELY NO MAKEUP UNTIL
SCABS HAVE FALLEN OFF.
10. Avoid sun exposure. Once the scabs have fallen off, you must
wear a physical sunblock (zinc & titanium) and a hat while your
skin is in the healing stages (pink in color) and you should continue
to do so for at least the next 12 weeks to avoid hyperpigmentation.
12. Do NOT sunbath/sun tanning beds for 10–12 week post proceedure
13. Do NOT have any other facial treatments in the same treatment
area while your skin is healing (12 weeks).
14. Do NOT wax treatment area for at least 21 days, if not longer. If
you are receiving Fibroblast treatment anywhere around the eyes, I
would wait the full 12 weeks. It will be ok to tweeze or thread any
unwanted hairs after scabs have fallen off the area
